Research interests: My PhD dissertation is an outline of the Utopian thought in the Islamic civilization, especially in the Middle Ages, that is currently the main focus of my research interests. In my opinion, the Utopian perspective allows insights into the understanding of how cultures work, shedding light into collective perceived goals and shared representations. This way, my main research leads to looking into the shaping of national - and more generally collective - identities; the structure of the literary fields and genres; the relationship between law, religion, individual freedom and need for social order, especially in literature and philosophy; the ways ideologies evolve and try to direct societies; the ways of representing space and time.
